Yoga Class Series

This six week class begins Wednesday morning February 20 and will be taught by Robyn Wilkinson. Robyn is a Registered Nurse and is currently completing her 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher training. All of the money from this 6-week series will be donated to the Creative Arts Center! Robyn will lead participants through a class each week, focused on mind, body and spirit with Hatha Yoga. All levels are welcome. Bring a mat if you have one. The cost for the 6-week series is $30 ($5 per class) paid in advance. Drop in rate is $10. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Dates are February 20, 27, March 6, 20, 27, April 3
No class March 13 due to Spring Break.

Art on the Town Painting Party

Painting parties are a monthly activity at the Creative Arts Center and the upcoming party at 6:30 PM on Thursday, March 21 will be another great opportunity to paint! The instructor is Lisa Avila and the painting’s theme is a beautiful harbinger of spring – wisteria. Participants are invited to bring their snacks and drinks and the arts center will provide all supplies needed for the class. Bring a friend or two with you – this program is a great way for co-workers or other groups to get together and have fun.
The cost is $35 per person and advance reservations are required. To reserve your space, contact the arts center at 903-640-2196 or come by the center at 200 W. 5th Street in Bonham (one block off the Bonham square). The class runs from 6:30 – 8:30 PM.

Hike into History at Bonham State Park!

Have you ever wondered what the story is behind Bonham State Park and the plants, animals, and structures that it protects? Hit the trail with us and find out!

•Expect to: Learn about the natural and cultural history of Bonham SP.
•When: We’ll begin at 2:00pm and end at approximately 3:00pm.
•Where: Meet at the Gnarly Root trailhead parking area. The hike will be about two miles there and back.
•What to bring: Appropriate footwear and plenty of water. Don’t forget to put on the sunblock and bug spray before you come out.

All programs are free with paid park admission, which is $4 per person 13 years of age and older. Please keep in mind that outdoor programs are subject to cancellation due to weather.

Evening Yoga Classes Begin at the Creative Arts Center
 
    Do you have joint pain? Stiffness? Would you like to increase your stamina and range of motion? Try “Yoga For The Rest Of Us” taught by Mark and Linda, two mature adults who know what it means to have kids, jobs and pressures – Yoga For the Rest of Us is for real people with real lives who just want to feel better.
    From 5:30 to 6:30 PM, starting Wednesday, March 27, this class begins at the Creative Arts Center. The cost is $10 per class at the drop-in rate or $7 per class if nine weeks are paid in advance (9 x $7 = $63). A minimum of 13 people are needed to sign up in advance for the class to be viable. Participants should have a doctor’s release to exercise and should be able to get down to the floor and back up again and be at least 16 years of age.
    So, come participate and get limber! For more information, call the arts center at 903-640-2196 or come by to sign up. The arts center is located at 200 W. 5th Street, one block west of the Bonham Square.

Fannin County Master Gardeners Expo @ Bonham Civic Center ( Armory)

Local vendors with plants, landscape items, garden supplies, handmade crafts, gifts, home needs and décor, and equipment will be selling their items throughout the day. The expo is free and open to the public. Demonstrations and informational booths will also be offering handouts and assistance.

Beginning Photography Workshop

Have you purchased a DSLR camera and don’t know how to use it? Does reading the book just confuse you and you’re no closer to learning how to take great photos with your new toy? Then this workshop is for you!
For all you “show me” people, professional photographer Jana Rash will explain how to use your camera in something other than “automatic”. You’ll learn how to select shutter speed, what “aperture” and “ISO settings” are and how to use them. You will discuss the meter in the camera and how to use it so you know you’ve got a good exposure. The workshop will also touch on composition and depth of field to present visually pleasing images and participants will practice shooting and changing settings for different lighting. The cost is $45 per person for the two-hour workshop.
