Bonham — Lone Star Garden Tractor Pulling Association teams will converge on Powder Creek Park, for a special encore tractor pulling performance in Bonham. Pulling teams from throughout the state will battle for the title in each of ten classes, competing in two rounds of pulling action.
The event is free to the public, and is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start on Saturday, July 16. Opening ceremonies will commence with our invocation by Lonny Parson of the Honey Grove Cowboy Church. The opening ceremonies will feature performing artist Bailey Melvin, with our National Anthem presentation.
The LSGTPA teams will compete on a 200-foot track at Powder Creek Park. Each tractor will hook to the 8500-pound sled twice, with the total distance from each pull added together, to determine the winners in each class. The LSGTPA sled is referred to as a transfer sled, meaning the weight is transferred from the rear of the sled, to the front of the sled, increasing the load as the tractors move downtrack. The farther the tractor moves the sled, the more of the weight transfers to the front, and the more load is placed on the tractors.
Tractors are classified by weight, tire size, and engine size. The machines range from the entertaining Youth Class, to the wild, high-horsepower Super Rod Class. Pit access is open, to view the machines and visit with the drivers before the event. Lawn chairs and hearing protection are recommended.
